General Info

Located at 1111 W University Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601, United States, Tan-Cha Gainesville is a bubble tea store that quickly catches your attention if you’re walking through the University Avenue area. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere feels relaxed and welcoming. It’s the kind of spot where students, locals, and visitors can stop by for a refreshing drink, take a quick break, or hang out with friends while exploring nearby locations.

What truly stands out at Tan-Cha Gainesville is its bubble tea. The menu focuses on this signature drink, and the selection makes it easy to find something that suits your taste. During my visit, the first thing I noticed was the aroma of freshly brewed tea. The store offers a great tea selection, which gives customers plenty of options when choosing their base flavor. Whether you prefer something light and smooth or a richer tea profile paired with chewy tapioca pearls, the drinks feel carefully prepared and balanced. The texture of the pearls and the freshness of the tea create that classic bubble tea experience many fans look for.

Another thing that makes Tan-Cha Gainesville easy to enjoy is how accessible the space is. The location includes a wheelchair accessible parking lot, making it convenient for guests arriving by car. Once inside, the layout feels comfortable to move around in, and there is also a wheelchair accessible restroom, which adds an extra level of convenience for visitors who need it. Small details like these help the place feel thoughtful and welcoming to everyone who stops by.

The service experience is also smooth and practical. Tan-Cha Gainesville accepts debit cards and credit cards, so ordering a drink is quick and hassle-free. This might seem like a small thing, but when the store gets busy, especially during peak hours, the fast payment options make the line move efficiently. It keeps the overall experience relaxed rather than rushed.

While the menu is centered around bubble tea, the shop still delivers the kind of atmosphere people expect from a casual drink spot. Guests often gather here to chat, review the drink options together, or simply enjoy a break between classes or errands. Based on what many visitors mention in their reviews, the drinks are consistently refreshing, and the welcoming vibe keeps people coming back.

Overall, Tan-Cha Gainesville fits naturally into the Gainesville dining scene. It’s not a full-scale restaurant, but it offers a focused menu, convenient services, and a comfortable environment where bubble tea fans can enjoy a quality drink in a friendly setting. The combination of a strong tea selection, accessible facilities, and easy payment options makes this bubble tea store a reliable stop along West University Avenue.

What customers say?

“ EDIT: The staff at Tan Cha gave my boyfriend and I free drinks to compensate for the inconvenience! This time, it was much more as I had as expected - our barista was very friendly and understanding, while our drinks were absolutely delicious! I ordered the coffee again, and it was much better this time around! My boyfriend ordered the Mango Creamio, and it may be his new favorite drink there! I changed the review to be what it should! Normally, my experience with Tan Cha is very positive and great. The staff there are friendly and it is our go to spot every time we crave a nice boba drink. However, my boyfriend and I came in on a Sunday night and had a not too pleasant experience. First, we had a bad experience with another customer. We were standing next to the counter, waiting for our drinks, while this lady sitting next to us says "There are 3 other tables there, you have no reason to be standing so close to me," and pulled the chair we were standing next to closer to her. While this is not on Tan Cha directly, the bigger, curly brown haired lady making our drinks had a very distasteful attitude, as if she was sick and tired of being there and making our drinks. When she was done making our order, my boyfriend's Coffee Creamio spilled over the top as the lid wasn't secured all the way since it was overflowing. He had to clean it up, and she watched him do it, only asking "Do you want that wiped up?" (with a very tired attitude) only after he had already cleaned it up. Not to mention, I've ordered the Vietnamese Coffee from Tan Cha before and it is normally quite delicious, however, this particular time was very strong and almost salty. The same case with my boyfriend's Coffee Creamio - it was way stronger than normal and almost inedible to drink. The coffee was stronger than any other coffee I'd tasted anywhere else. Our boba was also stuck together in a huge chunk and would barely come apart. Overall, we still love going to Tan Cha on a mid afternoon with the other, very friendly staff. We came with our dogs a couple of times and the other ladies are always friendly, even offering them a little cheese foam in a cup and some water. The drinks are normally so delicious and that is why we come so often, it is just unfortunate that this particular visit was sour. It just needed to be shared. ”

“ Best spot ever for studying and that’s a fact. The girlies who work there are so kind and play the best music! Every drink I’ve had has been good and so customizable. They should make little UF Tancha stickers I know my friends and I would rep them! ”

“ Delicious tea. Very nice to get a yummy boba tea drink made with fresh tea! Enjoyed the red jade milk tea ”

“ Finally this store is open. It feels that it takes half a year for furnishing (I know this because i walk by it everyday).. the bubble tea we had is as great as what I thought and the staff is very nice! We asked for half sugar, but it is still a bit sweet. Maybe 30% next time. I hope they can also provide pantries (better Asian style) along with bubble tea. ”

“ Definitely the best boba place I have been to in Gainesville. The place was really clean and the staff were all friendly and patient with answering my questions. ”

“ The staff is very accommodating with refunds/ issues with a drink. The drinks themselves are incredibly delicious, recommend the frothy matcha cappuccino or the brown sugar milk tea with boba (The two I’ve tried so far). ”

“ Best boba shop in Gainesville! They are one of the newer spots in the area but worth visiting. I love the authentic tea flavor my drink had! Store is absolutely cute too! ”
